Editorial Ethics
General Provisions
1. The norms of relations between authors, reviewers, editorial board of the journal, publishers, distributors and readers are based on the recommendations of the Russian Committee on the Ethics of Scientific Publications and the International Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
2. The editorial board in its work is guided by the modern legal requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation in relation to copyright, plagiarism and ethical principles, supported by the community of leading publishers of scientific periodicals, and is responsible for the publication of copyrighted works.
3. The founder of the journal is the Russian Society of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature. The publisher of the journal is the publishing house of St. Petersburg State University. The relationship between the editorial board and the St. Petersburg State University Publishing House is based on the principles of editorial independence. The editorial board makes decisions about on publication of articles based solely on the scientific quality of the material and its compliance with editorial policy without any pressure from the founder.
4. Materials are published free of charge. No remuneration is paid to authors and reviewers. There is no publication fee.
5. Published materials are freely available. Users can read, study, download, print, copy, distribute, refer to the full text of the publication or use them for other purposes not contrary to law, without the prior consent of the publisher or author. There is no fee for the use of materials.
Ethical principles in the editor’s work
In their activity, members of the editorial board of the journal “World of the Russian Word“ are guided by the following ethical principles:

the decision to publish the manuscript is made solely on the basis of the criterion of the scientific significance of the work in question;

the content of manuscripts is assessed regardless of the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, origin, citizenship, social status or political preferences of the authors;
-
the editors of the journal are committed to making fair and impartial decisions without any commercial interests and to arranging an impartial peer review process;
-
unpublished data obtained from submitted manuscripts are not used for personal purposes and are not transferred to third parties without the written consent of the author; information and ideas obtained during editing of the manuscripts are not used for personal gain;
-
the editors of the journal pursue an editorial policy that ensures maximum transparency and full accountability to the author;
-
claims of authors regarding reviewed manuscripts or published materials are paid attention to;
-
a description of the article submission process, including standards and requirements for the submitted article, are published on the official website of the journal;
-
the editorial board checks the compliance of the article with the established rules, standards and requirements; violation of the rules for submitting an article, as well as standards and requirements established by the editorial board, is a sufficient argument for refusing to publish the material;
-
manuscripts submitted to the editorial office are checked for text matches in the Antiplagiat-Rucont.ru system (https://text.rucont.ru); manuscripts are not allowed for publication if there are sufficient grounds to believe that they contain unfair borrowing of material, plagiarism or self-plagiarism; literal borrowings by the author from his own publications, including from publications as manuscripts (the author's dissertations and abstracts), without references to the original source or executed in violation of the established citation rules are considered as unfair self-citation (autoplagiarism);

retraction (withdrawal) of the publication is carried out in order to correct the already published material and notify readers about publications that contain serious errors or erroneous data that cannot be relied on;

the editors of the journal consider the possibility of retraction of the publication if:
— there is clear evidence that the results are unreliable as a result of misconduct (for example, data manipulation) or unintentional mistake (for example, miscalculation or experimental error);
— the results were previously published elsewhere without proper cross-reference, authorization or justification (cases of "redundant" publication);
— the publication is plagiarized;
— there is information about unethical research; -
if necessary, the editorial board publishes corrections, clarifications, refutations and apologies.
Ethical principles in the reviewer’s work
Reviewer is an expert acting on behalf of a scientific journal or publishing house and conducting scientific expertise of copyrighted materials in order to make their publication possible.
In their work, the reviewers of the journal “World of the Russian Word” are guided by the following ethical principles:

the manuscript received for reviewing is a confidential document that cannot be transferred for review or discussion to third parties who do not have the authority to do so from the editorial board;
-
the research results presented in the manuscript receive an objective and well-reasoned professional assessment, personal criticism of the author is unacceptable;
-
unpublished data extracted from submitted manuscripts are not used for personal gain;
-
if the reviewer believes that he does not have sufficient qualifications to evaluate the manuscript or cannot be objective (for example, in the event of a conflict of interest with the author or organization), he immediately notifies the editorial board of this with a request to exclude him from the reviewing process for this manuscript.
Ethical principles in the author’s work
Author is a person or a group of people (a group of authors) participating in the creation of the publication of the results of a scientific research.
In their work, the authors of the journal “World of the Russian Word” are guided by the following ethical principles:
-
materials that were previously published or sent to another journal, where they are currently under consideration, are not sent to the editorial office of the journal;
-
reliable, completely original results of the research carried out are submitted for publication; the use of knowingly false or falsified results is unacceptable;
-
borrowed fragments or statements are executed with the mandatory indication of the author and the original source; excessive borrowing, as well as plagiarism in any form, including unformulated quotations, paraphrasing, incorrect self-citation (auto-plagiarism) or appropriation of rights to the results of someone else’s research, is unethical and unacceptable;
-
the manuscript comprehensively reflects the contribution of all people who took part in the research in one way or another and who influenced its course; co-authors are the people who have made a significant contribution to the research and analysis of the results; people who have provided only technical, consulting, organizational or material assistance to the author are not recognized as co-authors;

if significant errors or inaccuracies are revealed in the manuscript at the stage of its consideration or after its publication, the author immediately notifies of it the editorial board of the journal.
