Abstract

A place of the NArFU in the academic space is described in the article: the mission, the strategic goal, the connection of the ergonym with the “Arctic vector” of development. Th e author emphasizes the activity of the university in the fi eld of international cooperation and expedition activities: the project “Arctic Floating University” has become an academic symbol of the country. Biographical sketches about famous scientists are off ered as examples of service in the university fi eld. Philological studies are considered from a special angle: as conditioned by the collective consciousness of the northern man, the soul of the Pomor land, the genius of Lomonosov. Th ere are showed the content of main directions of philological research: the study of the Northern text, dialectological research, description of the regional language picture of the world, activities to promote the Russian language.
