Abstract

This article discusses the basics of teaching the principles of translation to international
students of philological and non-philological specialties at Russian universities. The authors
present an analysis of Russian textbooks on practical translation. The article describes the main
principles of creating study guides on the special course “Fundamentals of Translation”, which
was created at the RUDN University at the Russian Language Department No. 4 and the RUDN Department of the Russian Language and Methods of its Teaching
of the Faculty of Philology. Both guides not only take into account
the specifics of the discipline, but also the peculiarities of the
internationalization of the student’s personality as a multilingual
unit within the framework of the organization of classes of the
course “Fundamentals of Translation” for international bachelor
degree students in a language environment aimed at the formation
of intercultural and interlanguage communicative competence
of a prospective translator. The purpose of the manuals is not
only to familiarize students with the theoretical foundations of
translation, but also to repeat and consolidate previously studied
topics on vocabulary, grammar and syntax of Russian as a foreign
language. The manuals take into account traditional principles
of presenting material from simple to complex levels. Examples
and practical tasks are presented in English and translated into
Russian. Modernity dictates its own rules, so the authors turn to
electronic educational platforms as tools for distance education.
Special attention is paid to the TUIS training platform created
at the RUDN University. The article illustrates the tasks of the
manuals, which are implemented and can be adapted in the
future in the online course “Fundamentals of Translation” based
on electronic learning platforms.
