The purpose of the proposed research is to substantiate the relevance and necessity of introducing elements of theatricalization (in the form of a theater studio) into the main program of the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens in order to increase motivation for learning the Russian language and Russian culture, as well as the formation of a secondary linguistic personality. The real practical long-term experience of using different types of theatricalization and the stages of formation of a theater studio at the preparatory faculty were used as research materials. The methodological basis is the materials of scholarly research of colleagues, methods of analysis and comparison of the results of mastering the Russian language. During the practical experiment, the research methods of analytical generalization of the results, the method of practical modeling, the method of abstraction, observation, and the study of the products of listeners’ creative work were used in order to identify progress (or its lack) in the assimilation of the Russian language and the implementation of the reception. Education is one of the powerful levers of the “soft power” policy, and therefore it is important to find new effective and interesting types of classes. Russian language and culture studies are supported by the addition of optional courses to the standard program that take into account the interests of foreign citizens. Russian literature reception plays an important role in the formation of a common cultural background, as well as forms an understanding of the Russian character, which is important for a better socio-cultural adaptation.
